Deana Langer, M.A., FAAA - Audiologist (CA Lic: AU616)

I have been working in the industry for over 50 years. I began working as an audiologist while in school for my master's degree at the University of Maryland in 1966. I was a trainee at the Washington DC Veterans Administration for that two-year span. My favorite part of my job is taking the history and putting together the puzzle that each client presents. I love finding out about people and what has happened to lead them to our office and treatment for hearing problems. Fortunately, I have had so many wonderful stories, that I could not pick out any one of them to share. I did have an interesting thing happen that involves one of our clients. He is a man with a very pronounced New York accent and he came in to get new hearing aids several years ago. In the course of taking the history he said that he had been treated at Long Island Jewish Hospital as a child. I perked up immediately, as I had worked at Long Island Jewish Hospital from 1969 through 1971. As we talked he remembered that the lady that took care of him was the one blonde on the staff. Since I was the only blonde on the staff, it had to be me. We even knew the same doctors that treated him way back then. He has remained a client and we just fit him with new A4 ITE aids and he says they are the best he has ever had.  From 1989 through 2016, I was the owner of Hearing Aids Etc. which provided hearing care in the West Hills area.
